Back to news
Fundsmith, the new asset management company founded by Terry Smith, announces the appointment of Conrad Rey as Sales Director to Intermediaries having recently announced the appointment of Catherine Evans as Institutional Sales Director.

Conrad is responsible for marketing to independent financial advisors, wealth managers and multi-managers and other organisations who invest on behalf of UK retail and high net worth clients.

Conrad joins Fundsmith from Standard Life Investments, where he was Investment Director.  He was previously a Sales Manager at Gartmore Fund Managers and Prudential-Bache Securities.  He is a graduate of Leeds University and London School of Economics.

Commenting on Conrad Rey’s appointment Terry Smith, Founder of Fundsmith, said:

“I’m pleased to welcome Conrad to the team.  Since our launch on 2nd November, we have had a tremendous response from UK advisors and their clients, and Conrad’s longstanding relationships with these investors will be invaluable to us.  We have struck a chord with those who wish to invest for the long term alongside me on the same terms.”

Conrad added:

“I am delighted to join Fundsmith, a firm with a different perspective on the investment management industry.  Terry Smith's robust, long-term and commonsensical approach to fund management should ensure that investors are rewarded with superior risk-adjusted investment returns.  Investors now have the chance to invest alongside a seasoned City figure who has repeatedly proved to be the creator of tremendous shareholder value over the course of his 36 year career.  Terry’s ability to ally clients' interests to those of his own should ensure Fundsmith’s success.”

Catherine Evans is responsible for building long-term relationships with pan-European institutional investors and with the investment consulting community. Catherine joined Fundsmith from Driehaus Capital Management, a specialist equity boutique based in Chicago, where she worked for two years introducing Driehaus’s equity portfolios to UK and European institutions. Catherine added:

“It’s exciting to be involved from the beginning of such an innovative venture.  A core, stable portfolio of resilient global companies held for the long term is exactly what many institutions require.  In setting up Fundsmith the team have attempted to challenge every accepted wisdom in the asset management world, and it’s great to be part of it.”
