Fundsmith's Terry Smith Awarded AA Citywire Rating

Back to news
Terry Smith, who launched and manages the Fundsmith Equity Fund, has been awarded a AA Rating by Citywire.

According to Citywire, “you can be sure a rated manager has done a great job of maintaining and growing the wealth of their investors…All managers who have a three-year performance history are eligible for a Rating, but only those who have consistently beaten their benchmarks receive one.”

Citywire rates managers not funds, applying a quantitative methodology approved by AKG, an independent actuary, to measure risk-adjusted returns rather than simply seeing how much money fund managers have made. The ratings evaluate a fund manager’s performance against their direct competitors, with less than 20% of all active fund managers in the UK achieving a Citywire Rating.

The Fundsmith Equity Fund, the main vehicle for Terry Smith’s own investments, offers investors a high quality, concentrated portfolio of 20-30 resilient global growth companies which are held for the long term. Since inception to 31st May 2013, the fund’s AUM has grown to £1.5bn and has delivered a total return of 60.1%.

Terry Smith, Founder and Chief Executive of Fundsmith, said:

“I am very pleased to have been awarded a AA Citywire rating. When we launched Fundsmith, my goal was to run the best fund there is through delivering the highest return over a long period of time, adjusted for risk. Citywire’s rating shows that we are on course.”
