Terry Smith graduated in History from University College Cardiff in 1974. He worked for Barclays Bank from 1974-83 and became an Associate of the Chartered Institute of Bankers in 1976. He obtained an MBA at The Management College, Henley in 1979. He became a stockbroker with W Greenwell & Co in 1984 and later joined Barclays de Zoete Wedd, holding the position of the top-rated bank analyst in London from 1984-89. In 1990 he became head of UK Company Research at UBS Phillips & Drew, a position from which he was dismissed in 1992 following the publication of his best selling book Accounting for Growth. He joined Collins Stewart shortly after, and became a director in 1996. In 2000 he became Chief Executive and led the management buy-out of Collins Stewart, which was floated on the London Stock Exchange five months later. In 2003 Collins Stewart acquired Tullett Liberty and followed this in 2004 with the acquisition of Prebon Group, creating the world's second largest inter-dealer broker. Collins Stewart and Tullett Prebon were demerged in 2006 with Terry remaining CEO of Tullett Prebon until September 2014. In 2010 he founded Fundsmith where he is CEO and CIO. In 2012 he was appointed a Member of the New Zealand Order of Merit for services to New Zealand-UK relations following the success of his campaign to commemorate the New Zealander, Air Marshal Sir Keith Park.

Jonathan joined from Canaccord Genuity, where he had been a senior technology analyst since 2010. He was previously at Altium Securities where he covered technology for 6 years, latterly becoming the Head of Research. Prior to Altium, he worked at Dresdner Kleinwort covering emerging markets equity research and subsequently pan-European IT services in the large cap technology team. Jonathan was Techmark analyst of the year in 2007 and was number 1 or 2 in his sector in the FT Starmine survey between 2006 and 2010. Prior to taking up a career as an analyst, Jonathan wrote country investment reports covering Mexico, Brazil, Peru, Guatemala, India, Russia, Hungary and Zimbabwe. Jonathan has an MBA from INSEAD and is a fluent Spanish speaker.

Adam Gonzalez joined Fundsmith in May 2025 as a research analyst, initially for the Smithson Investment Trust and, following its transition to the Smithson Equity Fund in February 2026, for the new fund. He began his career at Bank of America Merrill Lynch in 2010 as a capital markets compliance officer before moving to a research analyst role in equity research on the semiconductor team in 2014. In 2020 he was hired as a senior technology analyst for the small and midcap team at Rothschild Asset Management US. Adam has a Bachelor of Science in Finance and Economics from NYU’s Stern School of Business and is a CFA charter holder.

Kurran joined Fundsmith in October 2024 as a research analyst, initially for the Smithson Investment Trust and, following its transition to the Smithson Equity Fund in February 2026, for the new fund. Before joining Fundsmith, he was an equity research analyst at Berenberg, where he was the lead analyst in the UK Technology and Media sectors. Prior to joining Berenberg, he worked in Technology and Media investment banking. Kurran has a First Class degree in Economics from the University of Cambridge and is a CFA charter holder.
