Helping you make the right decision

Owner's Manual

Most fund managers will send you a glossy brochure. At Fundsmith we want you to have an Owner’s Manual. Why? Because your understanding of what we are trying to achieve and how we will approach it is a critical element in enabling us to attain our goal.

These documents provide you with key investor information about this fund. They are not marketing material. The information is required by law to help you understand the nature and risks of investing in this fund. You are advised to read them so you can make an informed decision about whether to invest. If you are unsure about the suitability of this fund, please consult a financial adviser.

The Financial Conduct Authority (“FCA”) has introduced new rules designed to ensure all asset managers are acting in their investors’ best interest and, as a result, delivering value. Whilst this is not, for us, anything new, the FCA has prescribed the factors to be assessed, and instructed that we produce this document to outline our approach and conclusions.

Stewardship, Proxy Voting and Responsible Investing

Part of our role as an investment manager is to engage with investee companies in order to satisfy ourselves that they are acting in the best interests of shareholders. Shareholder engagement is fully integrated into our investment strategy and processes, from our initial research, pre-investment due diligence through to the ongoing monitoring of investee companies.

The Responsible Investment Policy sets out what we mean by responsible investment and how we integrate ESG (environmental, social and governance) factors into our investment process.

UK Stewardship Code 2020
The Stewardship Report is submitted as part of our application to the FRC’s ‘UK Stewardship Code 2020’. Our application is pending approval. We are not signatories to the 2020 Code until our application has been accepted and the FRC’s list of signatories published. We remain a signatory to the 2012 Code.
